These works are from the collection The room

The artist explores the body as a site of vulnerability and impermanence.
Her perspective on the physical form is shaped by the raw fraility and pain of human suffering.

All the images in this collection are represented with their sizes relative to one another.

The room
This project consists of a series of oil self-portraits developed during a period of renewed engagement with painting as a mode of inquiry. The work departs from representational fidelity, instead emphasizing affect, chromatic intensity, and the phenomenological experience of embodiment. The self-portrait operates as a research method through which the body becomes both subject and site of investigation. Influenced by Frida Kahlo’s self-portraits produced in contexts of physical pain and confinement, the project engages with the bedroom as an intimate yet restrictive space, where the boundaries between interiority, vulnerability, and corporeal awareness are heightened. Color is employed as a destabilizing force, operating psychologically rather than symbolically, to articulate internal states that resist verbalization. Through distortions of form and heightened chromatic tension, the paintings explore discomfort, endurance, and the instability of the embodied self. This body of work marked a critical moment in the formation of the artistic practice, establishing embodiment, affect, and introspection as ongoing research concerns within my broader investigation of the body and lived experience.
